5 small Staffordshire Children’s plates with black transfer moralistic saying from the mid-19th century. Each saying is framed in a decorative black border. The sayings read: 1) The eye of the Master will do more work than both his hands 2) If you would know the value of money try to borrow some 3) For age and want save while you may; no morning sun lasts all the day 4) He that by the plow would thrive himself must either hold or drive 5) Frugality is a fortune& industry a good estate All the plates are in fine to very fine condition: #4 has a small edge chip at about 10 o’clock and #5 has a tiny underglaze edge chip at about 7 o’clock (I’ve tried to photo both, but there are no cracks, lines or restorations.) All plates are 4” in diameter.
