Antq. Black Rag Doll-Bone Button Eyes Ex Hadfield

Price: 475 including shipping and insurance

Sold by Albion Valley Folk Art and Antiques

For sale is a fabulous antique Black Americana folk art rag doll that I acquired in New Hampshire, and that was formerly in the collection of the well known author/collector Penny Hadfield. I was told that Penny had named her "Magnolia". The doll is made of black knit stockings, I believe, but what makes her unusual is that her eyes are made of large carved bone buttons that have been recessed inside the doll's head. She has a sort of pinched nose, as well as a naively embroidered mouth with teeth. She also has nicely stitched hands with defined fingers. I don't know if her clothes are original, but they are what she was dressed in when I acquired her. The doll measures about 18 1/2" tall, and is in nice antique condition, with minor signs of age, but no really significant flaws. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions or for additional photos.
