Wonderful original signed quintessential harvest oil painting dating to the late 20th century, titled "Onions" by Massachusetts artist Joan Gardner Fredette, who favored capturing the quiet, classical beauty of New England rural life. Her works rely on deep, natural earth tones with an emphasis placed on early American aesthetics. Stylized corn, a staved basket filled with apples along with onions set on a window ledge overlooking a bucolic field exhibits a warm earthy compostition along with an excellent use of light and shadow; this painting offers immense appeal. The front features the artist's custom "JG" monogram, and the reverse includes her hand-written signature alongside the original typed inventory label from Wilbraham, MA. Housed in a substantial, natural rustic, custom wooden frame (lacking glass) this piece is ready to be hung on your prized wall. Condition is excellent, canvas and frame are intact. Provenance: Formerly from the private lifetime collection of the late Matthew J. King, a well-known Massachusetts antiquarian collector, and dealer. Dimensions: 21 1/2" x 27" (Outer Frame) & is 2 ¾” Deep.
