A not often seen Pilgrim era, 17th to early 18th century, iron canting Crusie lamp. A simple wick channel lamp w/o internal wick support. Swivel suspension plus a ratchet arrangement to permit a canting action to keep the wick in the fluid. Great forging with nice twists and pigtail curl on hanging halbert hook. 13 3/4” hanging height. 3 7/8” x 4 3/4”x 1 1/4” deep pan. English. A nearly identical one can be seen in “Early Lighting” by The Rushlight Club page 37.
