For sale is an absolutely charming antique 19th century folk art oil on silk portrait of a cat/kitten that appears to be bursting through paper. The painting has a thick pulp mat with hand painted flowers and a brass arched opening that has also been outlined with some type of gold material, although I'm not sure what exactly it is. The entire composition has been placed in a faux painted frame, and measures about 10 1/4" x 8 1/2", with sight measurements of 8 1/4" x 6 1/2". The arched opening is about 5 1/2" x 3 3/4", and the cat itself is about 3 3/4" x 2 3/4". The piece is in nice antique condition, with some foxing around the edges, but no holes, rips, or other damage. In addition, the frame is old, but not original, and the paper backing and wire hanger are new. Please look carefully at the pictures, and contact me with any questions.
