🕯️Pig Lamp dating to the second quarter of the 19th century features a triple-burner configuration with three hand formed wick tubes rising from the semi-cylindrical body. This sheet iron oil utility lamp was designed as a multi-wick, utilizing conductive wick tubes that transferred heat downward to keep the fuel fluid. Multi-wick lamps offered more light compared to other single burner examples. The construction showcases early craftsmanship, including folded end panels and heavy hand-applied lead solder seams along the joints and bottom. Retains a deeply oxidized dark patina-ed surface. Shows a few dents on the front, back, bottom, and top edge locations. Some loss to top edge of center burner rim. A nice survivor of early American lighting that happens to be a perfect fit for the diminutive fall front desk sitting pretty on the top shelf, which is listed separately. Measures 7" Long x 4 ½" High (to wick top) x 2 ½" Deep. More pictures Available.
