Diminutive Fall Front Desk

Sold by Buttonwillow Country Antiques

Wonderful diminutive desk features an architectural, two-tiered stepped appearance dating from the first quarter of the 20th century. Fashioned primarily from hardwood showing a dark dry attic surface, this desk reveals a fascinating interior secret. The artisan resourcefully utilized premium, salvaged "Seamon's Original Wheeling Stogie" and New York tobacco crate pieces to form the inner dividers, complete with a registered trademark and an official U.S. Internal Revenue factory tax stamp. Bottom board exhibits a beautifully aged, unvarnished texture with heavy oxidation and prominent, honest "nail bleed" surrounding the original hardware. Features two independent double hinged functioning lids. Main sloped fall-front lid exhibits slight, natural warping. Tight, age-related cracks and honest wear consistent with age. Shows well and is handy for storage! Pig Lamp and sampler are nice compliments, as shown, and are listed separately. Measures 13” across, front height 4” tall, back height 8” tall, measures 10 ¼” deep. More pictures Available.
